“We’re really not too bothered about spending hours posing for photos, we just can’t wait to be married!”
Over the years, I’ve seen styles of wedding photography change and ‘fashions’ come and go, outdating over the years. That’s why I aim to produce a timeless style of wedding photography, something you can look back on and truly feel, not just liken to a temporary craze.
While there is no one size fits all approach to any style of wedding photography, I’ve outlined a rough idea of what to expect, should you decide to choose me as your wedding photographer.
Before
Getting to know you both before the big day is a key part of my approach as your wedding photographer. It’s not just a chance for you to see how I work — it’s an opportunity for us to build trust, discuss your vision, and ensure every detail of your day is captured exactly as you imagine it.
Whether it’s a relaxed chat over Zoom, a coffee and cake in person, or a walk around your wedding venue (bonus points if they make a great brew!), this time allows us to cover all the important details. We can go through your day’s schedule, highlight any special moments or surprises you have planned, and discuss which guests and group shots are essential to you.
I also use this time to scout locations, understand the lighting available throughout the day, and anticipate the best angles and timings — all of which ensures your photos feel effortless and natural on the day. By the time we meet for your wedding, we’ll be on the same page, comfortable with each other, and ready to capture your story beautifully, without any stress or surprises.
During
After the months of planning, it’s now time for the fun part!
I usually arrive around three hours before your ceremony to capture those getting-ready moments — the little details that make your day uniquely yours. From fastening buttonholes to fluffing your dress. I’m there to keep everything flowing smoothly so you can relax and enjoy the morning.
Following the ceremony, we’ll carve out as much time as you like for your couples’ photos, often strolling through some of the best spots I’ve scouted beforehand to create natural, relaxed images that tell your story beautifully - though it’s typically the walks in between the locations where we capture the gold!
The rest of the day, you’ll see me subtly floating around — blending into the background, engaging with your guests, and capturing every candid moment as it happens.
I honestly don’t stop (apart from when you and your guests are having their wedding meal - no one wants to see Uncle Jim with a mouthful of cheese!), and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
After
Once the day is over, my work continues behind the scenes to ensure your memories are preserved beautifully. After mindfully selecting only the best images, I carefully edit them with a style that suits your day — no one size fits all colour presets, no AI culling tools and certainly no duplicates - your images have my full attention and creative direction.
I select the moments that tell the story of your day — the laughter, the tears, the stolen glances, and all the little details that made it unique. There’s rarely a time I edit wedding images without a huge smile on my face as I think back to each moment.
Within 2-3 weeks following your special day, you’ll receive a collection of high-resolution, professionally edited images that feel natural, timeless, and full of emotion - A story beautifully told from start to finish.
I also offer albums and prints if you’d like a tangible way to relive your wedding day for years to come, this can be discussed during our consultation.
Beyond the photos, it’s always nice to stay in touch — many couples become friends, sharing their new adventures and milestones. My goal is simple: to create a collection of images that lets you relive your wedding day over and over, exactly as it felt.

Yes! While technology has made it so much more simple and cost effective for my clients to print their own albums, I have a trusted list of high quality album makers that will print your chosen images on high quality photo paper and use high quality album materials, leaving you with a finished product that will stand the test of time. We can discuss these options when the time is right for you.
Alternatively, you have full printing rights to do this yourself if it’s easier! -

I am based at the gateway to the North York Moors, just outside of York, which gives me great access to Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, North Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire.
I am also available for destination weddings and weddings further afield, though these may incur additional travel costs and expenses. I’d be happy to discuss your location ideas with you in person, over the phone or by email.

I always try to get to both the bride and groom at the start of any wedding day. Typically arriving at the bridal party location first thing to capture hair and make up, then heading to the groomsmen to capture them putting on their suits (and working out how to add their button holes!), then back to the bridal party for the putting on of the dress, a first look from loved ones and bridesmaid photos.
That being said, each wedding has it’s own flow and order of the day, so a detailed schedule will be put together in our initial consultation to ensure your day runs smoothly and we maximise the photo opportunities.
